UnaCash breathes new life into Maybunga Elementary School classrooms through Brigada Eskwela 2022

Last August 10, 2022, the UnaCash team took part in a Brigada Eskwela project at Maybunga Elementary School (MES).

The team spent a fun and fulfilling afternoon repainting the walls of classrooms, giving them a fresh new look before students go back for their first face-to-face classes since the start of the pandemic.
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities like this will have a big impact among students, according to MES Principal Mr. Christopher S. Santos.

“For students, seeing a newly-painted classroom and organized school facilities will help them become more engaged in their schoolwork,” Santos said. Imagine walking in a freshly painted classroom after more than 2 years of being at home!
“Malaking tulong din itong project ng UnaCash, dahil una sa lahat, nababawasan yung gastos ng schools para sa re-painting ng classrooms [It is a huge help, this project by UnaCash, because first of all, it lowers the spending of the school to repaint the classrooms],” Santos added. “At yung natipid ng eskwelahan, maaari pang gamitin sa iba pang pangangailangan ng mga estudyante [With the school saving on such costs, we can spend it other things that the students might need].”

Along with repainting activities, MES has been preparing their learning and recovery plan in order to bridge learning gaps caused by the pandemic.
And with the threat of COVID-19, the school is making sure that they have enough restrooms, handwashing facilities, and tooth-brushing areas for dental hygiene.
According to the UnaCash Vice President for People & Culture (P&C) Vane Macatangay, Brigada Eskwela was chosen as the company’s first CSR activity to help schools with the F2F mandate since it is more urgent and pressing at the moment.
“Una starts with you. We want everyone to know that UnaCash gives back to the community. We really care about the things that we are passionate about; one being education,” Macatangay said.

“Hopefully, starting with Brigada Eskwela, we will be able to focus on other parts of our corporate identity that are related to CSR.”
In the future, UnaCash hopes to partner with a foundation and tap its marketing team for its CSR initiatives.
By the second half of 2022, they also hope to have planned-out CSR activities for 2023.
